Saturday, September 17
After night's sleep on the train, we were awakened at. 5:50. It was a bit foggy in the morning, but did something up on the way up the mountain. There are 37 km. from Lao Cai to Sa Pa, and the trip takes an hour. It was not the weather to Fansipan, it should be quite clear when we are up there. We had a beautiful hike, only 5 km on the road and the rest of the terrain. For me it was a difficult trip, I was very tired when we arrived for lunch the restaurant, Located in Le Chau. I took a motorcycle the last piece. As previously we were followed by many black Mong. We had shared many bags of clothing handed out, all that we passed and had a child on her back, got a bag with 4-5 pieces of clothing. When we reached the bottom in the village of Ta Van, got our car and picked us up. After returning to the hotel we went on a city tour and was greeted Luyen, with whom we should eat lunch tomorrow. We are hoping for clear weather, so we can take the cable "cable car" to Fansipan. Khoa and I ordered dinner at Restaurant Buffalo Bell pm. 20:00.

It was not Fansepan, the weather was not clear enough, yes it rained actually suffered. So we went to the Red Dzao (an ethnic minority originally from China), in the village of Ta Phien. Before we came to the village, we saw the burned church, which the Chinese burned as hævnagt due to Vietnam had entered Cambodia and had allocated Pol Pot. There was a big reception committee with Fam Mai in the lead. They followed us through the village. There were new developments in Tá Phien: many orchid fields and several homestays, where tourists can stay. And many gasoline-powered tillers instead of water buffalo, to knead the rice fields. Almost at the end of the village located Fam Mais house. We were seated with snaps and tea. She had 6 American tourists who spent the night in the house. It was hard to walk on the muddy paths. When we got to the rice fields, it was even harder. We went on høfterne between rice paddies, and there were three streams we had to climb. With great difficulty we came through. At one point I had 3 Dzao women to help me. In the square where our car kept, had bought things from those who had helped us. There were many who wanted to sell their goods, and there was also purchased in well. We drove back to the market, where Luyen made lunch for us; a slightly different lunch. Back to Hotel Lotus and deliver our bought stuff in the room. Now it was time for shopping in Sapa and massage. We got massages 3 different locations. Then a little "rum and coke" - and tea break. At 20:00 we eat dinner the same place as yesterday, after a day exploring.

Monday, September 19
We were in the morning unsure about the program - it should be Fansipan or walk to Cat Cat? It brightened a little, so it was Fansipan, the mountain at 3,143 m .; Indochina's highest mountain. It's a big project, as Vietnam has built there - no expense spared. The project has achieved two world records recorded in the Guinness Book of Records (the longest cable car and with the greatest height difference). Lis, Peter and Dorte continued up to the top of the mountain. I kept me around 200 m. Further down. The view was not the best, but we got a good impression of conditions on the mountain. John was not with due. Disease. The car drove us back to the lunch restaurant at Luyen and daughter Phung Dum. I had written a wedding card for Phung Dum, who is getting married in early November 2016th I've known her since she was 8 years. Then we went to Cat Cat for Lis, Diane and Peter. John rested, and I had other chores. The group had a nice trip to Cat Cat. A small village located at the very bottom of the valley, so the trip presented many stairs. By the waterfall so that a special performance with Vietnamese dance. Then hike along the river with many ascents before the group reached the parking lot, where the car was waiting and drove them back to Sa Pa. Now we are preparing ourselves for repatriation to Hanoi. Although the weather has not been the best, it has been an exciting experience. Departure at. 17 by car the 37 kilometers. Lao Cai, where we eat dinner before we go on the night train at. 21st Now we look forward to coming "home" to Hanoi.
