Goodbye Hoi An. Hotel staff, hotel manager. Thao from silver shop, Sew and Luu showed up to wave goodbye. First stop is Marble Mountain in Da Nang. Now it's got a lift to reach the top, it makes it considerably easier. Pagodas at Marble Mountain is built by Minh Mang first in 1800. We visit His mausulæem tomorrow. Next stop is Havan passport. A passport as both the French and the Americans controlled during the wars. It has previously been the only place from south to north. We arrived at our hotel River Wiev at 12.30. I drove with Hang to the boat, we must sail tomorrow. Agreed time on the boat and talked with Ocvan, who was with us in Hanoi in April this year. Hang, Ocvan and I planned tour at 17.00. But after having ordered the boat, we drove all for the deaf Resturant and had a light lunch. Drove then to the Royal Palace, where we made an exciting tour. Imperial Palace was partially destroyed during the Tet Offensive in 1968, but is now almost completely restored. Tommy and Ruth appeared as Emperor and Queen. Hang the princess. We go out and eat at 20.00. Everyone can feel that there has been more traffic. We have come to a big city. The deaf reaturant make really good food and the host entertains with his way of closing beer. He can close up to 6 beers at once just with a knife-hand blows. We all got a bottle opener to commemorate the visit. We were all tired when we went out to eat. We ate at a restaurant close to the hotel DMZ Bar. We went to bed at 21.30. It is probably the earliest that we have gone to bed.

Today we rented a boat, as we will be sailing on the Perfume River. We biked away River Wiev at 7.30. Tommy, Ruth, Knud Erik, Hang and me. We had the big boat. First stop is Tien Mu Pagoda. A very famous place with a special history. Now there rests a peace and tranquility of the place. There was a monk who drove to Saigon from here and drove up in front of the presidential palace and went out on the square and poured gasoline over himself and set fire to it. The international press took pictures of it and they went around the world. The car was exhibited here. It was in 1963. The war was a turning point. It was President Diem fall. Next stop is the Minh Mang mausoleum. Minh Mang is one of the greatest emperors in Vietnam. He reigned in 1800. Mausulæet located in a park. We crossed the river and took the bikes off the boat. There are about 3 km up to Khai Dihn mausulæet. There are many stairs, which was about to take your breath away Tommy, Ruth and Hang. they reached only halævvejs up. Knud Erik and I got up. Mausulæet was visited by many Chinese who I talked to. There was at least 100 We cycled back to the boat. They had made lunch for us on the boat. A great lunch and lots of dishes with a lovely soup. Tommy and Ruth sailed home with the boat. Knud Erik, Hang and I biked back. We were 1 hour before the promotion, so we immediately took bath. We reached it before Tommy and Ruth arrived at 18.00. We then went out to eat. We ate at a bach packers restaurant. We took a taxi to the railroad station. We got the burger and pizza and at 19.00 departure to the station. The train was running at 19.50. a good time to travel. We were in Hanoi at 11.20 the next day.
