A relaxing day before the last trip to Tam Coc. We enjoyed each of us, but agreed to meet for lunch at Hangs cafe / restaurant. Kenneth and Sandra trains. Hang was not there, but she had others to care for the restaurant. It is a small oasis in the small streets. I wrote short and took a ride in the bicycle taxi. One must remember to negotiate a price before the tour starts, otherwise it can be expensive. A real day of rest. Dinner at Little Hanoi. We were 9. Kenneth, Zandra, Hang, Minh Huong, Hangs mother, little sister Hien, Mi, Elisabeth and me. Last evening meal in Hanoi.

Elisabeth enjoyed himself watching life in Hanoi's streets.

We drove from Camellia pm. 7 in the morning. Oanh Le came to us last night and slept with Mi. Ding had taken his son 6 years. We drove to Ninh Binh about 100km. Just before Ninh Binh we drove down and rented a cementbåd who took us fishing village "Kenh Ga". Here comes not many other tourists. It was for one hour one way and one hour back home. Here one sees much to the authentic life. Today they started with the rice harvest. We ate lunch in Kinh Ga. Ding drove us from there to North Vietnam's largest pagoda - Ba Dinh by the first emperor of Vietnam. The pagoda is enormously large. More than 3 times the size of the second largest. It is built into the hillside and has 4 levels. Man going up along the long side in a gallery that great carved figures depicting the first "wise men" which first common Buddhist for about 2525 years ago. Everything is very nice and still under construction. There's spent much money on the decoration that is becoming more and more impressive every step you take up. To and from Pagoda drive in electric cars, since there are about 4 km. from the parking area to the pagoda. Next stop Hua Lu, Vietnam's first capital from the early 900s. Emperor Le moved the capital in 1010 to the current Hanoi under the name "Tang Long" - the "ascending dragon". We cycled the 12 km from Hua Lu to Tam Coc, a beautiful walk in a landscape called "Ha Long Bay on land". We have got good rooms with a view and a large terrace, where we can sit. After a good dinner, we can enjoy life on the terrace. Now the temperature is only 25 degrees!

Tam Coc boat ride. We started at. 8:45 - two in each boat, Mi and I am in a - Oanh Le and Elisabeth in another. The weather was fine and clear and warmth to endure because we were on the water. Great to see how easy they control the boat with their feet. Mi and I had a young man who boatman - Elisabeth and Oanh Le an elderly couple. When the weather is clear, the trip on the river at Tam Coc one of the most beautiful places in Vietnam. We sailed through three caves. Miscellaneous sellers of water, photo opportunity and other services following the boats. It should be something steadfast to escape. Our boatman seemed that Mi had to have a lotus flower, so he "caught" one for her. He invited us to his house for tea. Now it was time for a little rest before lunch. The heat is unbearable - about 38 degrees - so the afternoon bike ride was postponed until. 16th Khoa had made a trip to a bird resort. It was an exciting trip, mainly Elisabeth was happy. There was a large colony of Asian Open Bill - a kind of stork. Oanh Le fared shops over the phone along the way. Amazing what you can do with the new mobile phones. Dinner at the hotel, enjoy on the terrace with rum and cola. Again to bed early, very tired. We need to get up early tomorrow to visit Vietnam's largest national park.

Why peace backwards using. arms when one might as well rest forwards using. feet.

Finally, there were birds in sight to Elisabeth. Asian Open Bill they were intended. They were a little far away, so it was difficult for the camera to "pull them in."

We drove to the National Park Cuc Phuong from early morning, so we were promoting as any of the first tourists that day. Cuc Phuong is Vietnam's oldest national park. It is steep limestone mountains with dense rainforest. First we got a tour of a center from which they discarded endangered species of monkeys and turtles to the wild. The animals were any that police had confiscated from illegal trade. The animals are mainly sold in China, where eg. still believe that one can get the turtle's ability to grow old by eating turtles. It was early in the morning, so we enjoyed gibbons beautiful and very loud morning song. We then drove further into the park to a place from which emerges walks. We took a tour and both Elisabeth and I got enough to do to make the trip. It went really steeply up and down, but it was very beautiful with all the huge old trees. Then there was a well-deserved lunch before we returned to Tam Coc with relaxation until we took the tour Ninh Binh to eat chicken at the restaurant. Elisabeth had little difficulty with that too chicken feet was served, but there were fortunately lots of delicious sticky rice.

Tired but happy after a long walk in the rain.

Sunday, May 17
Off pm. 8.45. We were supposed to worship in North Vietnam's main Catholic church. When we arrived, it turned out that they had closed the show for tourists, so we waited outside, the fair was over. We were allowed to attend the following Sunday school where the children had just as hard to sit still and listen, as Danish children would have had. After the Catholic church we visited Khoas childhood home. His mother lives there still. She is a retired teacher. She fits several of the grandchildren, because it is impossible for young families alike to care for children and jobs. Last stop before we returned to Hanoi was Huy's house. Huy, I have known for many years, and we always used to visit her and get a nice meal. Was first about her in-laws' house, where we had tea and fruit. Then we took the trip to her childhood home, where she and her mother had made food galore. We ate together, and I had many times bowls with her father in rice wine. Then it went back to Hanoi and Camellia4. We were about the return pm. 8 thereof. Tomorrow Elisabeth home late in the day. Another wonderful trip in Vietnam coming to an end
