Thursday, May 7
We arrived at our hotel at. 5 in the morning. I had prepared the hotel that we had a special status, so we were allowed to get our room immediately. Most go to bed for 3 hours. In the morning we took a taxi to the Literature Museum - "The old university" founded by the capital's relocation from Hoa Lu to Hanoi. A university with a proud tradition. We were entertained by musicians from the Conservatory and it was also fun to watch the variety of Vietnamese, were taken to Literature Museum to be photographed. There were preschoolers, teachers and students who had finished primary school. All they had to be photographed in their stiffest pus. The temperature is still very high. Close to 40 degrees. Afterwards we went to the Art Museum. A very popular place. Then it was Armymuseet. Unfortunately there was afternoon closed but we took advantage of the wait to eat lunch at KoTo. Taxi back to Armymuseet where we were watching movies complemented by a tableau, which illustrated the battle of the Bien Pu in 1953. Then we saw a similar idea concerning the battle for Saigon. Very interesting and informative. We also spent some time watching the rest of the museum. Everyone was getting tired, so the afternoon went with relaxation except for me. I used the time to make sure that we could get a nice evening meal on a roof terrace.

class teachers had a dangerous trouble with getting everyone to stand properly :-)

Here is the bunch female teachers who were photographed.

We had decided to take a drive around the West Lake - in Vietnamese "Two Tay". Doris, Lissi and Elisabeth motorcycle. Knud, 2 x Henning and Zandra (From Kenneth's office) bike. The trip was 15 km. 10 km to get back and forth, 5 km around the lake. A beautiful walk in the middle of Hanoi. First stop was a pagoda, where large numbers to pray. It brings victim in the form of beer, flowers, Monopoly money, fruit and incense sticks. Man puts his sacrifice on the altar, pray and go away about 1/2 hour. It then returns and can then eat the part of the victim that is edible. The rest will be burned in special ovens next to the pagoda. We drove past a large water park. One could easily be tempted to take a bath in the pool. The temperature is still about 40 degrees. Zandra from Kenneth's office drove briskly even though it was the first day, she really tried Hanoi's traffic. We ate lunch at the "Little Hanoi". The afternoon was spent relaxing. We were invited to dinner with the family Tang. There had sent a bus to fetch us. There had been cooking all day, so it was a great dinner, which was consumed in a nice frame. We ate namely the grandmother's house, which was a kind of temple where honoring deceased family members. I know many of the family. Especially Bich, who I have known for 14 years. She is now married and has two children. We were driven back home by taxi. He had to sit by a piece from the hotel, the area is cordoned off on Friday. There was music on every street corner and many people in the streets. We chose to go home to bed, for we must get up early tomorrow. To dine in a temple was an experience.

Sale At bike in Hanoi. Most of the group is quite right at the curb. Zandra first. Then Henning, Knud and Lissi (back of a motorcycle).
